Vikram Malhotra, general manager, marketing, Kingfisher Airlines has put in his papers this week. The exit of Malhotra, who was closely associated with Vijay Mallya, promoter, Kingfisher Airlines and chairman, UB Group, comes soon after executive vice-president Ramki Sundaram left the company in mid-June.

When contacted by Televisionpoint.com for an official comment on the decision, Malhotra did not respond to several calls and text messages. Prakash Mirpuri, vice-president, corporate communications, Kingfisher Airlines denied the development.

Sources said Malhotra is not joining a competing airline, but a different group with a leadership assignment. Speculation is rife that Malhotra would soon be assuming his new role and that he has quit Kingfisher in search of better opportunities.

As a part of the marketing industry for the last 10 years, Malhotra was one of the key executives in Kingfisher Airlines and has been working with the UB Group for the past seven years. Apart from heading the marketing function at Kingfisher Airlines, he also took care of the Force India Formula One Team.

Prior to UB Group, Malhotra has worked as product manager at Tata Communications and as brand manager and national sales manager at SC Johnson India. He is a management graduate from the University of Mumbai and graduated in 1999.
