9X, the struggling Hindi GEC from INX Media stable, has found a better partner for its present archive programming form in the name of DD Direct Plus. The channel will now be available on Prasar Bharati's DTH platform, starting February 12, 2009. 9X is available on all of private DTH platforms like Dish TV, Tata Sky, Big TV, Sun TV Direct and Digital TV, which all together reach about 16 million households and about 80 million viewers nationwide. B. S. Lalli, chief executive officer, Prasar Bharati, says, "DD Direct is one of the nation's biggest DTH platform by far, and it is our endeavour to bring all our viewers the best channels across all genres. We are delighted to welcome 9X to DD Direct." Indrani Mukerjea, founder and chief executive officer, INX Media, said, "I am delighted that 9X will now also be available on DD Direct. This will enhance the channel's reach significantly and will connect us to many more households across the country." 9X will be INX Media's second channel on DD Direct, in addition to 9XM, which is already popular on the platform and is today one of the leading Bollywood music channel. It is important to note that since November 24 last year, 9X has not given a go-ahead to most of its producers to start shooting fresh episodes and the channel continues to air reruns. Company sources also informed that the funding issue INX Media was facing has been resolved, and the channel may turn back live soon. |
