MTV Networks International (MTVNI), a unit of Viacom, has promoted Indra Suharjono as executive vice-president and managing director, MTV Networks Southeast Asia and Greater China. Based in Singapore, Suharjono will assume oversight of MTVNI's portfolio of brands and businesses across the region. She will succeed Amit Jain, executive vice-president and managing director, MTV Networks Southeast Asia, China and India, who will work closely with Suharjono to ensure a smooth transition while he takes on special projects for MTVNI based out of Singapore. Suharjono would report to Bob Bakish, president, MTVNI. She most recently served as senior VP & MD for Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) with direct responsibilities for Asia, Middle East and Global Publishing. In her new position, Suharjono will lead the growth and manage the day to day operations and strategic direction for MTVNI's brands and businesses in the region. "Indra's years of experience and intricate knowledge of the pan-Asia market has been a tremendous asset in growing MTVNI's consumer products business, which under her leadership has posted triple digit growth," commented Bakish. Jain, who joined MTVNI in 2005, was instrumental in leading MTV Networks Asia & India on a profitable growth trajectory. He also played a principal role in expanding Viacom's business interests through the formation of Viacom 18 – Viacom and TV18 Group's joint venture in India. As executive vice-president and managing director, MTVNI for Greater China, South East Asia and India, Jain spearheaded the company's expansion and led many key market developments including the successful launch of Viacom18's general entertainment service, Colors. Jain's management of the Viacom 18 joint venture will shift to the Emerging Markets Group under Bhavneet Singh, executive vice-president/managing director of Emerging Markets based in London, MTVNI. Prior to joining MTV Networks India, Jain served more than a decade with Coca-Cola, managing markets across Asia. "Amit has done a tremendous job in growing and expanding our brands in the region. His leadership in the successful formation of Viacom 18 and launch of the hugely popular Colors GE network while maintaining MTV and Nickelodeon's strong connection to the youth and kids market has made us a key player in India. We are grateful to Amit for his hard work and dedication." commented Bakish. |
