    Samar Halarnkar is managing editor, Hindustan Times

    Samar Halarnkar has been promoted as managing editor, Hindustan Times (HT). This was announced by Shobhana Bhartia, vice-chairperson, HT Media Ltd, in an internal staff memo.

    Halarnkar replaces Pankaj Paul, who is recovering from some post-surgery complications, and is moving back to the US, where he will take up a teaching job.

    Neither Halarnkar nor HT officials, were available for comments at the time of filing the story.

    Halarnkar was editor, HT-Mumbai. He had joined the leading English newspaper as editor, national investigations in Mumbai in May 2006.

    Prior to joining HT, Halarnkar was resident editor, Indian Express. Prior to Express, he has worked for other media houses like the India Today Group.
