Emami group, the Kolkata-based FMCG player plans to launch a TV channel revolving around art within the next five to six months. As things stand, the channel, probably the first of its kind in the country, will be initially positioned as a two-hour slot on a premier English channel. And, over time, it will also be aired on regional channels countrywide. Emami has roped in Prachar Communication to carry out a feasibility study for the project and thrash out finer details to make it useful, cost-efficient and sustainable in the long run. The company is also in talks with various media agencies, ad and media gurus like Alyque Padamsee, to make a successful launch. "We are now betting big on diversification, we have lined up investments of about Rs 4,000 crore over the next three years for our paper, hospitals, retail, real estate, cement, bio-diesel and media business. The media industry is booming today, and we at Emami desire to have a taste of it, as we want to build 'happy clients' in this arena too." Aditya Agarwal, director, Emami Group told Televisionpoint.com. |
