The Chief programming officer of Sun TV, W. Hansraj Saxena has received death threats on his mobile phone. "The commissioner said she will look into the matter, The callers asked me not to go to the Sun TV office. They also threatened me with dire consequences if I disobeyed them," Saxena said. "I think the calls originated from public telephone booths, I have given these numbers to the police so that they can trace the callers and take action against them," he added. The relationship between the DMK government and the Maran family touched a new low after alleged supporters of M. K. Azhagiri, chief minister M. Karunanidhi's older son, attacked the office of 'Dinakaran' in reaction to an opinion poll published by the newspaper projecting his brother Stalin as Karunanidhi's political heir. Dayanidhi Maran, grandnephew of chief minister Karunanidhi, was forced to resign from the post of Union minister for Information Technology and communication and the DMK withdrew its backing for the Maran-owned Sun TV. A new channel 'Kalaingar TV' floated by Raj TV and reportedly backed by the DMK, is expected to become operational from August 15 to take on Sun TV. |
