Capitalising on the expanding wireless and emerging technologies business in India and to further extend its brand presence, Turner International India has extended the mobile presence of its flagship kids' channel and the number one kids' channel of India – Cartoon Network by expanding its association with Mobile2win. As part of this latest venture, Mobile2win will create a WAP site for Cartoon Network and provide support in content distribution across mobile carriers for the Network. Cartoon Network's content now launches on Hutch, Airtel, BPL and Spice Telecom and as the year progresses will feature on other leading operator portals as well. Mobile2win will also distribute Cartoon Network's premium mobile content such as wallpapers, animations, themes, ring tones and games for Cartoon Network's popular shows. With this latest strategic move, all generations of the Network's fans will now be able to download content of popular Cartoon Network shows such as Tom & Jerry, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Scooby Doo, Dexter's Laboratory, amongst others on their mobile phones. The earlier agreement with Mobile2win included providing interactive wireless solutions for popular Turner International India channels, namely CNN, Cartoon Network and POGO. Siddharth Jain, Vice President of Distribution and Business Operations (India and South Asia), Turner International India said, "With the exponential growth of mobile users in India, wireless activity, integrated with television, is an exciting medium for increasing viewership, viewer interactivity and ensuring that our content is available anytime and anyplace, in an interactive and easy-to-use format, on as many different platforms as possible." He added, "In order to maintain our leadership position in this rapidly changing and dynamic industry, it is imperative that we move with the times. Keeping our past successes with this medium in mind, I am positive that our association with mobile2win will again prove fruitful while adding more value to our many loyal viewers across India." Rajiv Hiranandani, Co-founder & Country Head, Mobile2win, adds, "The age group between 10–20 is soon going to be one of the largest groups consuming content in the years to come. Mobile2win has seen this trend and we therefore are very excited with this partnership. With our multiple distribution points, we hope to open up this untapped market in partnership with Turner." Moving ahead in its mission to ensure availability of its content across multiple platforms, Turner has made several efforts in the Wireless and Broadband space. In addition to the latest association with Mobile2Win, Turner has signed deals with Tata Broadband for the first video on demand (VOD) in the country; with Dialog Telekom in Srilanka for live streaming for CNNi and Cartoon Network as a loop service; as well an earlier agreement with Mobile2Win, that included Mobile2Win providing interactive wireless solutions for popular Turner International India channels, namely CNN, Cartoon Network and POGO. |
