Kolkata TV, the 24 hours Bengali Infotainment Channel from the SST Media, a Xenitis group Company will be officially launched from March 27, this year. The channel will provide real-time update from the world of politics, business, art and culture, education, sports and entertainment. Suman Chattopadhyay, director and chief editor, Kolkata TV said, "Despite many channels, which are currently on air, there is immense scope and demand for information on issues and events that affect the life of an average viewer. We ensure that Kolkata TV will create new milestones in the electronic media on a National Level." The channel is in strategic partnerships with APTN, ANI and Reuters, it also has experienced journalists like Rajat Roy, Pranay Sharma and Sudipta Sengupta. Filmmaker Aparna Sen will head the creative team as Director, she will be anchoring a show called Aparna Online, which will discuss socioeconomic and cultural issues on the lives of today's women. Santanu Ghosh, Chairman, Xenitis group, said that the company has kept Rs 100 crore for its media venture Kolkata TV. Rs 50 crore had already been invested in the channel and another Rs 50 crore would be put in by December 2006. Also, note that Ghosh had said that the company will come out with an initial public offering of Rs 200 crore in September 2006 to fund its new ventures. Ogilvy & Mather Kolkata has left no stone unturned to make the channel win, the agency has already kick started its 'creativity', with a series of teaser hoarding's on the streets of Kolkata, hitchhiking the fact that Local content is King. Also, has the Xenitis group tied up with the leading cable operations in the West Bengal state, to make the Distribution as God. |
