Global Broadcast New, which has made a strategic investment in Channel 7, the 24-hour Hindi language general news channel, has decided to change the name of Channel 7 to IBN-7, effective April 01, 2006. GBN and Jagran TV Pvt Ltd have an equal inter se ownership in the Channel 7 and on mutual terms these media companies have decided the renaming structure. Also the editorial, production, distribution and other operations of Channel 7 shall be integrated with all the news channels of the TV18 Group, from next month. Also, if sources are to be believed, Executive Producer of Aaj Tak, Ashutosh is joining IBN-7. Rajdeep Sardesai, chief anchor of CNN-IBN will be the Managing Editor of IBN-7. Televisionpoint.com has earlier reported that the GBN, a TV18 Group company and owner of CNN-IBN, which have entered into definitive agreement to acquire 45 per cent stake in Jagran TV, the owner of Hindi news channel Channel 7.
