The BBC Asian Network will feature six audio diaries with Northamptonshire spinner Monty Panesar during England's tour of India next month. Monty is part of the England squad that will face India in the upcoming series between the two sides. If selected to play during the test series Monty will become the first Sikh to play for the England team. These audio diaries will capture Monty's personal experience of being on tour with the England team to the country of his ancestral heritage. The diaries are due to run on between February 28 and March 23 during Drive (4.00–7.30pm). They will feature Monty's personal experience of being in India both on and off the pitch. Also, note as already reported by Televisionpoint.com earlier, The BBC has signed the exclusive radio broadcasting rights to all India's incoming cricket tours for the next four years, including England's series which starts next month as well as their tour in spring 2009. The deal allows the BBC to broadcast live commentary across any of its radio networks on a total of ten series between India and international touring sides including Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa. Jonathan Agnew, Christopher Martin-Jenkins and Simon Mann commentate on the three Tests whilst legendary cricketers Geoffrey Boycott and Sunil Gavaskar provide expert analysis. Simon is then joined by Jonny Saunders for the seven one-day internationals. |
