Sony Entertainment Television id presenting the 'Cadbury Bournvita Quiz Contest, Confidence Champion', a unique contest that tests not only knowledge and logic & reasoning, but also proven skill/talent, which could be anything from swimming, cycling or dancing to running, skating or painting. The Bournvita Quiz Contest is back on Sony with not only a new-improved format but also a new look Derek O'Brien (cropped hair, clean shaven, smart glasses) with a beautiful girl by his side. And this time the ultimate winner will get to see the Seven Wonders of the World! In its new avatar, it doesn't just pay for the participating child to be spot-on on GK but it also requires him/her to have one proven skill. It simply means, the child should have that one special quality – could be a little scientist in the making or a national level basketball/ swimming/ skating/chess/squash champion or could even be a singer/dancer – and a generous dose of confidence to see him through the different rounds. Ask O'Brien why the emphasis on a proven skill when the classic quiz format has always worked and he says, "About two years ago, we had a little segment called Bournvita Champion in BQC where we talked about kids who were gifted with some special skill or hidden talent. I noticed that my daughter who is 10 now would just watch that segment and wouldn't watch the rest of the quiz. So when we were discussing with the channel and the sponsor about bringing in a new format we thought of adding this aspect of the participant having one proven skill." The contest opened by inviting schools from across India to send in nominations for students between classes 5 to 9. After selecting 1000 students from 100,000 nominations, the viewers will get to see the final 90 who have proved their mettle through various eliminations. The search for the unique student will come to an end after 24 episodes of fun, frolic, knowledge and entertainment. In the process, the contestants will also get to visit exotic locales in Singapore. The final winner, of the Cadbury Bournvita Quiz Contest, Confidence Champion, along with his/her parents will get a chance to fly to the Seven Wonders of the World… from the Pyramids of Egypt to the Great Wall of China, from the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy to Stonehenge in England, from the Colisueum in Rome to the Empire State Building in New York, and of course, to our very own Taj Mahal in Agra. Gauging the popularity of this show, Sony Entertainment Television has gone a step further and brought interactivity (SMS) where viewers can vote for their favourite contestant to be the Confidence Champion or play along (by SMS) to win fabulous prizes. "Sony Entertainment Television has always excelled in providing innovative programming formats for its audiences, including kids.
