Recognising the Festival as the only true and necessary creative litmus test for many industries, he goes on to say that it doesn't recognise budgets, nationality or reputation. "It's about ideas, impact and relevance. And once a year, we all get the chance to measure our ability and progress as individuals and as an industry." David Lubars, Titanium Lions President and first ever winner of the Titanium Lions award, clearly states that he is keen to reward monster ideas and recognise brave thinkers who are reconsidering the way forward. For Lor Gold, President of the new Promo Lions competition, the brand is the voice which should reign supreme. He hopes that the power of promotion will be truly recognised here and inspire us to continue to change the idea of it forever. President of the Outdoor jury, Fernando Vega Olmos, comments that whoever you are and whatever country you are from, if you have a revolutionary idea, you should shout it out and the power will be handed over to you – revealing perhaps a challenge to all? For Renetta McCann, she would like her Media jury to focus on sheer creativity, as in the words of author William Plomer, "Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected." Lions Direct President, Steve Harrison, believes that anyone entering their work into direct marketing is defining a moment in history, because if you win, you will be setting the standard by which every subsequent piece of work is measured. It is easy to see why Guillaume Van der Stighelen loves radio. No fancy directors with ponytails, just "wonderful underpaid sound studio people with whom you can have a beer with and laugh".
