Star News becomes India's No. 1 Hindi News channel, attracting a 25% market share in six major metros. Carrying 3 out of the top 5 News shows including Khabar Din Bhar, an on-the-hour cutting-edge News update, which ranked No. 1 on the channel from August 14 to 20, Star News maintains its position in the fourth week, according to television rating data, All Adults, C&S, 15+, 6 metros, Week 34 and 35. In addition to its success in 6 major metros, Star News has also pulled even with longtime News leader Aaj Tak in all Hindi speaking markets, sharing top spot with a 23% market share each. Viewers of Star News watch the channel for longer than any other News channel, staying tuned for an average of 35 minutes each. Its closest competitor is at 29 minutes. "We strive to give our viewers stories and News that affect their lives, and this has led to Star News steady growth throughout the past year. Our success has been built not only on attracting new viewers, but in keeping them interested enough to keep coming back," said Uday Shankar, CEO & Editor of MCCS. MCCS operates Star News as part of a joint venture between Star and ABP Ltd. Star News, whose viewership extends beyond India into Hong Kong, UK, USA and the Middle East, broke the 20% Hindi speaking market share in July, and has continued its climb through the ratings ever since. |
