The internationally renowned 'red dot design award', which celebrates its 50-year jubilee this year, has extended into the area of 'design concept'. What makes the new 'red dot design award: design concept' special: as the name suggests, instead of centering on products that have already been introduced to the market, the award focuses on concepts in design; on new, creative and exciting ideas and visions. The 'red dot award: design concept' is intended to assess and promote truly creative achievements: designers, agencies, design studios, design professionals, students as well as research departments and inventors worldwide are invited to take part in the 'red dot award: design concept'. MR Ken Koo is the President of red dot Singapore & in India, red dot is represented by MR Shashank Nabar - Director, Multiprint Advertising, Mumbai. All kinds of innovations and design novelties that have not yet been introduced to the market can be submitted. Registration forms & brochure is available with the India Representative. Participants can also register online. Professionals can avail of multiple entries discount whereas students get additional 50% discount on registration fees. Payments can be made by credit cards or bank transfers. The 'red dot award: design concept' pays tribute to the high potential and creative energies of young upcoming talent, designers and ambitious design companies – not only in Asia, but also around the world. The new competition will provide the important link between creative designers and companies. It will offer talented designers around the world the chance to present their new concepts and creative visions, to compete on an international level, and to distinguish themselves by receiving an award for their talent and high potential in innovation. A broad interpretation of the categories is expected. The suggested list for each category is not fully exhaustive and shall not be limiting in creativity and manifestation. However, the 2 main categories are, Product design & communication design. But the sub categories are plenty & all pervasive. Viz: product design includes Architecture, Gadgets, fashion etc whereas communication design includes websites, animation, print, films etc. Category details can be checked up on the website. In 2005, more than 3,000 submissions from over 20 countries are expected. The jury will judge the concepts in August, and the highlight of the competition will be the festive award ceremony in Singapore in November. The exhibition of all award-winning concepts within the competition will also be opened on the same evening. MR Shashank Nabar urges the design fraternity to participate in large numbers, he says, "We Indians have made our mark in various fields internationally. Let’s make our presence felt in Design too. Every winner of red dot will make a landmark history for the design fraternity of India. Our response will also decide whether India proves itself a destination for the traveling exhibition that Red Dot plans to take to only 2 nations in Asia." |
