The Centre would soon ini tiate a process to allow FM channels across 90 cities in the country besides liberalising the policy on community radio stations.

"We are going to start the bidding process for starting FM radio stations across 90 cities," Mr S. Jaipal Reddy said to PTI.

The government was contemplating liberalising the policy so that community radio stations could be started, he said, noting that "technically" there was a scope for starting as many as 4,000 community radio stations. Ruling out any further hike in the limit of FDI investments in news channels, Reddy said there was no proposal to bring FDI in news agencies.
