Symbiosis President & Founder Director, Dr. S. B. Mujumdar has said that there was no Income Tax (I.T.) Department raid on Symbiosis Deemed University or any of its Institutions. Noted that, on Wednesday, July 20 2005, the I.T. Department simultaneously raided some of Maharashtra’s leading educational institutions in Pune and at different places in Maharashtra. The reaction from Symbiosis comes when, few News channels and some newspapers have wrongly reported that Symbiosis was one of the institutions which were raided. This report has caused immense harm and damage to the fair name, hard-earned reputation and image of Symbiosis and its Founder Director. In a Media Release, Symbiosis claims that "is an educational institution of international repute. It does not charge or accept any donation or capitation fee for admission to any of its programmes. This is also prominently publicized in all the advertisements and prospectuses of all Symbiosis institutes." Symbiosis also said that it is planning to take legal action against those channels and newspapers that wrongly reported that the institution's premises were among the 68, which was subjected to searches and surveys by income tax department. "Many television channels, English and local newspapers went overboard to unfairly report that the premises of Symbiosis too were searched by the income tax department." DR Mujumdar said. DR Mujumdar said that Symbiosis was consulting legal experts and plan to take legal action against for that traded 'crassness as reporting' thereby ending up sullying the image of an institution that was built with sheer hard work over the years. |
