In a reversal of trend, the Irish arm of Swedish telecom group Tele2 said it’s switching more of its call centre operations out of India and back to Ireland, as customers prefer local accents. "Irish people like to speak to local people, To deliver a better service to customers, we believe it is important to locate our operations in the local market." Said Mark O’Toole, MD of Irish operations for Tele2, which offers phone, Internet and cable TV services in 25 countries across Europe. The move means Tele2, which already has contracts for 150 call centre jobs in three parts of Ireland, will hire more than 25 new call centre workers in Dublin. |
