    The Prannoy Roy promoted New Delhi Television Ltd announced its intentions to launch a fourth news channel.

    Speaking to Televisionpoint.com, Mr, Raj Nayak, CEO, NDTV said, "As of now, I will not be able to discuss anything about the possible content structures or the launch date of the proposed new channel from the company until we get a clearance from the I&B ministry."

    NDTV has informed BSE that an application has been made to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting on May 16, 2005 for permission to uplink Company's fourth News Channel.

    According to government officials, the news channel will cover infotainment and news in Hindi and English, on a high dose of entertainment and lifestyle driven programming. Although in depth details of the proposed channel are not available.

    NDTV already has Hindi news channel NDTV India, English news channel NDTV 24X7 and business news channel NDTV Profit.
