Zee Bangla steals the show at Sunfeast Pratidin TV awards

Zee Bangla, the leading Bengali entertainment channel, walked off with fifteen awards at the Sunfeast Pratidin TV awards at a packed auditorium at Science City, Kolkata on Saturday, May 7, 2005. 'Sambad Pratidin', a leading Bengali Daily News Paper, has done a viewers choice award for Bengali Television Programmes.

The readers of the newspaper were asked to poll from the entire programme list and finally the nominations were announced in the newspaper for the final poll.

The starlit gathering witnessed the crème de la crème of Kolkata. This included directors Sandip Ray and Prabhat Roy, actresses Debasree Roy, Tanusree Shankar, Mamata Shankar, veteran actress Sabitri Chottopadhyay and many more. Dance performances by TV artistes and a skit based on the lines of serial production were entertaining breathers, filling up as breaks between the award ceremony.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Lifetime Award that was given to Sri Jochon Dastidar (posthumous) the pioneer of Bengali TV serials, the founder of Sonex TV Productions. The award was received by his daughter (national award winner actress) Kheyali Ghosh Dastidar.

The process was entirely fair & decided by the viewers was evident from the Live Telecast Show category. One of the nominations was the Pratidin BFJA awards (Bengal Film and Journalist Award), which is an event, organised by Pratidin, but Alpha Gaurav carried home the trophy!

Zee Bangla proudly walked away with fifteen Awards, Thirteen went to Akash Bangla, two to ETV and two to Tara Bangla.

Being primarily an entertainment channel Zee Bangla did not scout for the Sports, Talk Show and Travel categories.
