Be it the country's first ever quiz show on the television, Kaun Banega Crorepati or the India's Child Genius, he's crafted them all in his impeccable style, with his effusive charm and boyish smile. Siddhartha born in Calcutta on December 28, 1954, grew up in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.

After his schooling, he graduated in English literature from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. this jack of many trades before becoming the celebrity quiz master, has announced, read and produced programmes for All India Radio. He has directed and produced documentaries and television programmes since 1977.

Siddhartha put his looks to good use by doing plenty of theater, he was one of the founders of Action Group, a pioneer theater group in Delhi, with Barry John as artistic director. Among his more popular roles are those of Polonius in Hamlet, Pantalone in Servant of Two Masters, Oedipus in Oedipus, Alan Strang in Equus and Mozart in Amadeus. He faces the blinding arclights and crazy fans with an incomparable aplomb.

All these were before he teased the gray matter of television viewers with his quiz time which he Started in 1985. It ran for three series and got listed in the Limca Book of Records as the first national television quiz. In 1994 he produced the Super Quiz in Hindi featuring mature quizzes and Kissa Kursi Ka in 1995 which had MPs as competitors.

In 1989 along with his wife Anita, he set up Synergy Communications, a television production company, which has since then produced path breaking & critically acclaimed shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Mastermind India, University Challenge, India’s Child Genius, Bluffmaster, Heartbeat and the most recent being Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa- Dancing with the Stars.
