Bharti Airtel has entered into a technology partnership with Infosys Technologies, whereby the latter would deliver interactive services to the newly launched direct-to-home (DTH) venture of Airtel under Digital TV branding.

As part of its digital convergence platform, Infosys will provide a suite of products including devices, application servers and interactive platforms. The two companies refused to divulge the financial details of the partnership.

"Airtel's Digital TV technology in combination with Infosys' digital convergence platform will bring digital lifestyle applications offering interactivity and personalisation into the living room," said Atul Bindal, president, telemedia services, Bharti Airtel.

"This will include interactive and non-intrusive applications such as widgets, which can be used to view customised information such as local city details. This technology also makes it possible to have a converged consumer experience across devices such as televisions, computers, smart mobile phones and digital music players." S D Shibulal, chief operating officer, Infosys, said.

Infosys derives 10 per cent of its revenues from the media and entertainment vertical.
