With the Indian media and entertainment sector witnessing a 20% growth in 2006 and poised to sustain the pace in the next five years, most Hollywood studios are unwilling to miss the fun. Now, international music company Sony BMG is set to scale up and expand its operations in the Indian subcontinent. Sony BMG is looking at entering all platforms, and becoming a serious player in internet, mobile, TV software as well as film production.On the agenda for the next few months is scouting for suitable partners to ink a strategic equity partnership with players across the value chain. The music label's COO, Tim Bowen says, "The rationale is to secure our supply chain and ensure that we have the right expertise across platforms to monetise the entire music and entertainment value chain." The company is also looking at international crossover alliances with Sony BMG artists globally which will facilitate an international release for many Indian and international artists through Sony BMG's global distribution networks. |
