The Film and Television Producers Guild of India has announced the 2nd Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards. The awards will be held at at Jamshed Bhabha Hall, NCPA on Jaunary 21, 2006 and will be presented by Reliance India Mobile, and conceptualised and organised by Hungama Events and Promotions, a division of Hungama.com. The Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards have been instituted to felicitate members of the film and TV fraternity through its own vote and to promote and support talent in the Indian film and television industry. The Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards is a distinct achievement in Cinema and Television award of the industry by the industry and for the industry. The Film and Television Producers Guild of India, the definitive and representative body of the Indian Film entertainment industry, has instituted the Apsara Awards to felicitate members of the Film and Television fraternity through its own vote and to promote and support talent in the Indian Film and Television industry, informs an official release. Amit Khanna, President, Film & Television Producers Guild of India, said, "Over the years, the Guild has become the foremost organisation representing major stakeholders in the rapidly expanding filmed entertainment industry. The Apsara Awards is the Guild’s endeavour to honour excellence in cinema and television by the stalwarts of the industry itself." Sanjay Behl, Head – Branding & Marketing, Reliance India Mobile, said, "It is our constant endeavour to enhance content experience for our consumers through all current modes of consumptions – be it video-streaming on mobile phones, Live TV on Reliance World or cinema viewing at Adlab multiplexes. Given this backdrop, our association with Apsara Guild awards – the Oscars of the Indian entertainment industry – is a natural fit." Neeraj Roy, CEO, Hungama.com, said, "Our role is to ensure there is complete transparency in the entire process. This is a serious initiative and we plan to make it a grand success. This year, we also have a nominee special brunch and will celebrate it on January 8." The Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Award will bring the utmost level of credibility and transparency in the selection process. Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) (who also audits the Academy Awards) will audit the entire selection process. To ensure complete security in the process, PWC will send encoded ballots to the guild office, which will be dispatched with DVDs / VCDs of the nominated films & TV programmes to all the guild members. Representatives of PWC will then collect the ballots from all the Guild Members. These ballots will then be scrutinised and compiled by PWC officials. The signed, sealed and verified ballots are handed over at the venue on the night of the Event to be announced by opening the sealed ballots in front of the gathered crowds. The Apsara Awards Film and Television Producers Guild have been conceptualised and organised for the Film and Television Producers Guild of India by Hungama Events & Promotions, a division of Hungama.com. Last year, Sony Entertainment Television and NDTV were the media partners for the Awards, while for the terrestrial feed was on DD. Media partners for this year will be announced soon. |
