The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, which is aired on Star One, a nationwide talent search for India's best comic is taking its Tamil avatar on Star Vijay. Popular cricketer Sadagopan Ramesh and well-known comedian Chinni Jayanth will be the judges for the show. The Tamil version titled Kalakkapovadhu Yaaru Vay Vittu Sirithaal Noi Vittu Pogum (Laughter is the best medicine tagline of the show) will be aired on every Friday starting from November 11 between 10 and 11 PM. Talking about the show Ramesh says, "I am taking part in a game show that will be aired on television for the first time. When Star TV approached me with their proposal that to be on the jury of a fun filled programme, I was thrilled with the idea. I knew that the programme was already a hit in Hindi where Navjot Sidhu plays the part they wanted me to play I decided to give it a shot. I liked the concept very much and found that the show was an appropriate platform to bring out hidden talent." He also added that at times he found it hard to judge the show. He says, "Every one was so talented. In fact, I found my sense of humour only after the audience began cheering for me after every shoot." "Participants from all walks of life took part in the auditions. Based on their bio-data and photographs that were sent to the channel which talked about their talent, we short listed the applicants and called them for an audition," he says. Out of the five contestants in each episode, a winner is selected for the first ten weeks, which form the preliminary rounds. The 11th and 12th episodes are the semifinals and the 13th episode is the final. The audience can vote in favor of the contestants through SMS and phone calls. Actress Uma Riaz Khan anchors the show. |
